Feeling burned out and broken?
Redesigning worklife | #80
Hi, and a warm welcome to all my new subscribers!
Next week is Mental Health Awareness Week, one of the biggest awareness weeks across the UK and globally. The theme this year is loneliness - something I struggle with as a solo, remote worker, and one of the greatest public health challenges of our time. So, I wanted to share some useful resources.
The NUJ is hosting an online conference on Saturday 7 May: Together Stronger: a collective approach to mental health. Looking after your mental health and supporting your colleagues.
It’s a one-day event followed by a series of workshops over the next fortnight. Free for NUJ members and open to all, £10.
Key themes include:
Taking a collective approach to looking after mental health
How to recognise mental distress
Managing trauma
A health and safety approach to looking after mental health for freelance workers and employees
Headlines Network has launched a new set of resources for media professionals in partnership with Mind, a leading mental health charity and supported by Google News Initiative. Practical tools and training - really enjoyed reading the toolkits and the videos are excellent.
Off for a run now - nature is my healer. I’ve signed up for the #80MilesinMay Challenge. If you want to support my fundraiser, you can make a donation here ❤️
Hope to see you on Saturday!
– Nika
If you’ve got something to share, send me a note and I’ll include it in the next issue. I love hearing from you, it makes my day! 😁
